Gestimer (Legacy) für Mac

I use it mostly when cooking. Some dishes need exact time to cook (pizza, rice, etc.) When bringing beer home from the grocery story, I dump it on the floor beside the fridge (because there is usually no place left in the fridge). Then in the evening, if I want a beer, I place the cans into the freezing compartment and drag 1 hour down with the mouse from the Gestimer icon in the menu bar. Then I go to my Mac, put on my headphones, start iTunes and totally forget the time. In exactly 1 hour I'll receive a message from Gestimer that my beer has been cooled down to my favorite temperature. I like my beer to be VERY cold, a few more minutes more and the beer would freeze (which I don't want, of course) and a few minutes less wouldn't impart the same taste I prefer. There are several other apps that could do this, but none of them can do it as easily as Gestimer.

Whoa! Update finally posted. Sadly, still no audible alerts = me still no buy. And apparently no fix for the Bartender bug, either.

Doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

The new version doesn’t work right with Bartender.
No matter what I do, Gestimer insists on staying in the menu bar and won’t let Bartender move it into its bar so it’s hidden.

The last two versions didn’t have that problem, but they did have other issues. They almost always refused to launch on boot, and had to be launched manually. So far this one launches but won’t hide.

And although I’ve requested audible alerts, there’s still no implementation. If I step away from the computer and an alert window appears, there’s no way to tell without disabling the screensaver and looking at the screen.

I’d planned on using it for things like when I’m cooking, but the lack of audible alerts is a definite problem. Several times I’ve been across the room and didn’t know the timer had gone off.

BEWARE!

Gesturer 1.1.3 crashes often, sometimes many times in a row.
The dev is already aware of one bug that is noted on their website.
Some of my crashes were directly related to this before I found out on the website, but others were not.

On 7/13 the dev said " I'll submit an update in the near future that should fix the crashes."

The current version was released 6 months ago, that's a long time to wait for a fix for a known bug.

DON'T DOWNLOAD UNTIL THE NEXT VERSION IS RELEASED!
